Ganderbal, May 24 (KNO): Female students from Gutlibagh held a protest and blocked Bailey bridge at Wayil in Ganderbal district, demanding bus service for them. Due to the protest, vehicular traffic remained suspended for a few hours on Srinagar-Leh highway. As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), amid sloganeering in favour of their demands, the protesting students said that they have to suffer a lot due to shortage of buses on Gutlibagh-Ganderbal route. At times, they said, passenger buses are running full to their capacity and they refuse to board more passengers, causing students to miss their college. They also said that they are being charged full fare in violation of a concession offered by the authorities to students everywhere. A team of officials from police and civil administration rushed to the spot and pacified the agitating students. They assured them the matter has been taken up with the Motor Vehicles Department and the concerned officers have agreed to start a bus service for students. ARTO Ganderbal Wajahat Qayoom said a transport facility will be made available for students from tomorrow—(KNO)
